My Fingers Hurt!

Wow!  I have been so busy that I have been a little behind on keeping this blog alive.  It’s weird.  I’m unemployed (not getting paid to do work), but I have a lot to do!

The assignment God has entrusted me with that has taken up a lot of my time is writing a book called Metamorphosis: Transformation from the Inside-Out, which is based on the Metamorphosis weekend youth conference Impact 4 Youth Ministries produced back in May 2012.  Additionally, I’ve been asked to write a small group curriculum that compliments the book.  Yikes!  It is a LOT of work.

God has given me the privilege to speak on many occasions, and has blessed me with the spiritual gift of proclamation.  So, speaking these days feels natural.  I don’t take it lightly, but it comes easier than other tasks (like organizing stuff).  However, writing those things down in a format and style that is relatable is so much more difficult.

Over the course of about two months, I’ve typed about 30,000 words for the book, and another 10,000 or so for the small group curriculum.  Over the course of working on these things, I’ve been reminded of the warning James issues in James 3:1

Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.

This is serious stuff, and I understand what God has asked me to do.  Yet, Satan constantly badgers me with the fact that I am not worthy to be writing about this stuff.  And, he is correct.  I am not worthy.  Instead, I do this as a servant – nothing more.  All glory goes to God, because He IS worthy.  It is for this reason that I jump off this cliff and will publish a work dedicated solely to what He is capable of doing – transforming each person into a new creation.

With the release date of August 5, 2012 approaching, my prayer is that I have allowed the Holy Spirit to work through me in such a way that people will be drawn to Christ; and that through His Spirit, they will be transformed from the inside-out.

Though my fingers hurt from all the typing, and re-typing, and my eyesight is fading in and out, my prayer is that all the work, toil, prayer, and arthritis will be worth it in the end and lives will be forever changed by the stirring of the Spirit in the young and old alike.

If you want to see what all this is about, stay tuned to the Impact 4 Youth Ministries site, like our Facebook page, or follow us on Twitter (@I4YMin), as we will be providing information on how to get a copy for yourself, or get copies for small groups (including the small curriculum).

As a note: all of the royalty proceeds from the book sales and small group curriculum go directly to Impact 4 Youth Ministries to support our mission of empowering teens and young adults with the gospel message.
