Beginning next week, I will be taking a long overdue Sabbatical. A sabbatical is a sacred respite, especially significant for a pastor. I’m embarking on a 60-day hiatus from my pastoral duties during this time in order to immerse myself in personal renewal and spend some quality time with my family. During this time, I’ll delve into deeper study, prayer, and contemplation, nurturing my own spiritual growth to better serve my congregation, and those I minister to through this blog and other media avenues, when I return. This will include putting a pause on writing the Daily Devo while I’m away.
For a pastor such as myself, a sabbatical is not just a break from the demands of ministry, but a deliberate journey towards rejuvenation and replenishment of spiritual well-being. It’s a time to reconnect with my calling, refocus my vision, and gain fresh insights and inspiration. Through intentional rest, reflection, and spiritual practices, my prayer is to emerge from this sabbatical refreshed, reinvigorated, and ready to continue the ministry God has entrusted to me with renewed passion and purpose, enriched by the experiences and learnings of our time apart. Think of it as taking time to recharge the batteries.
I will also be spending some quality time connecting with my family. Being a pastor places demands on one’s time which can pull them away from family gatherings, milestones, or some of the other enriching moments in life. So, I’ll spend a couple of weeks on the road, enjoying what God has created, and reconnecting with my kids and wife on a more intimate level.
I’ll be be back in the middle of August, at which point I’m sure I’ll have many more stories and blessings to share with you all here on the Daily Dose!
May God richly bless you in the interim!
