Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
Nearly a decade ago, I launched a ministry called Impact 4 Youth. The sole purpose of the ministry was to produce weekend youth evangelism conferences which would inspire and train teenagers to reach their friends and family with the good news of Jesus Christ. It was one of the most blessed and cursed times of my life. Let me explain.
It was cursed because I didn’t believe it would actually happen. How could God use a guy who had no theological training to not only produce the shows, but also be the speaker for these events? I hated the idea. Not only would I have to raise the money for each event, but I’d have to create the curriculum, recruit volunteers and professionals to help run each event, and figure out how to reach a teenage culture that seemed foreign in many ways. In my mind, I wasn’t qualified for the job that God kept showing me. The curse was from within me.
The blessing came when I finally gave in to God’s plan. I asked people for money. I recruited friends and family to help produce the shows. I began writing and re-writing content. I studied teen culture and the trends within it. In 2010, we launched our first event, CROSS Training. About 20 teens showed up. It was a good start. Though the crowd felt very small, God worked one miracle after another. At the end of the two-day event, I made an appeal for those who wanted to accept Jesus for the first time into their lives. Hands shot up. In that moment, these teens passed from death to life. God went big for His Kingdom.
Often times we don’t get to see the miracles God wants us to play a part in because His goals and plans are too big (at least to us). That’s why Paul wrote our verse today. “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” In other words, God’s plans will always be bigger than what we ever dream. Why? Because He is bigger, more powerful, wiser, and cooler, than we can even imagine. When we embrace His God-sized plans, God-sized miracles happen.
So, let go of your human-sized plans. Embrace God’s calling in life to “accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” When He calls, answer.
