Vacation Time

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28 (NLT)

I have been blessed to live close to family for the bulk of my adult life. It’s amazing to hang out with my older brother and his family. Our kids get to be friends, in addition to cousins. My mom and step-dad also live within driving distance, so we get to see them somewhat regularly as well. Nieces, nephews, grandkids (his, not mine), and a bunch of dogs equals a lot of good times.

One of the things we’ve committed to doing each summer is taking a family vacation together. My brother and I grew up around watercraft, and used to be avid water-skiers, so we love heading to the lake for a few days of fun in the sun and the water. We rent a big house and just enjoy getting some rest from our real-lives for just a bit. I generally come back more rested, and full of great memories.

This year, our vacation will be July 3-8, and I will be disconnected from all of my ministerial stuff (including the Daily Dose). But, I’ll be back at it the following week, so look for the Dose to return on July 11.

Wherever life may find you, family, may God richly bless you there. I hope that you too will have some rest. See you in a bit!
