Never Fear! Jesus is Here!

Yes, you came when I called; you told me, “Do not fear.”

Lamentations 3:57 (NLT)

“Y’all are gonna get robbed.” I, and my two other coworkers heard a voice say from down the hallway. It wouldn’t have been too concerning except that the store I was managing had been closed and locked up for about 30 minutes. We were in the back room reconciling the cash registers (making sure the cash and receipts all matched up). There was supposed to be no one else in the building. Where, then, was the voice coming from? And to whom did it belong? The even more unsettling reality was that there was only one exit from the room we were in, and it lead into the hallway where the voice had proclaimed the presence of an intruder. We all banded together, wondering what would happen next. The sound of footsteps announced that someone was coming closer. Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness of the hallway and entered the room. Immediately, our fears were relieved. It was our security guard, Marvin. He said the phrase again, but this time added some clarity, “Y’all are gonna get robbed. Someone left the back door to the store cracked open. That’s how I got in.” Indeed, one of my coworkers confessed that she had just been out in the alleyway behind the store for her smoke break and must not have fully closed the door on her way back in.

Fear is something that we’ve all experienced. Whether it is because of the unknown, or because something is currently happening that generates those feelings inside of us, we’ve all had those moments in life where we wonder if we’re going to come out of things OK.

In our spiritual lives, sometimes the enemy is able to generate fear – he is supernatural after all. We wonder if we’re going to get through it. We wonder if Jesus truly will save us. Doubts creep in, and fear takes over. That’s where this verse comes in.

Jesus understands that we will have fear in this life. He understands that we will even have doubts. But, He is also willing to save us from those things. When we call, He comes running. It’s as if He’s saying, “Have no fear, Jesus is here!” And, there is no power in all of the universe that can stand against Him.

No matter what fears you face in life, know that we have a Savior who is always there for us. He will come running when we call. He will stand with us. He will be victorious.
