I’m not even sure I know where to begin.
I am so humbled by what I watched God do in the lives of over 100 teenagers (and their youth leaders) this weekend at the Metamorphosis youth conference. Not only did the Holy Spirit move, He rocked the place.
I watched as the Spirit moved through the praise and worship; allowing people to express their gratitude and admiration for a God that loves them so much.
I watched as the Spirit showed itself through the drama team’s presentations of the real-life issues that our young adults face today. People saw themselves and their friends reflected on stage. It was real. It was raw. It amazing.
I felt the Spirit speaking through me during the teaching times. I felt him so powerfully that I was literally brought to tears following the last session. This wasn’t just your run of the mill tears, either. As I staggered backstage, I was sobbing uncontrollably as I felt God embrace me and flood me with His love. It was overwhelming, yet absolutely amazing.
I watched as the Gospel message began to permeate the hearts and minds of the teens in attendance. I saw the Holy Spirit begin to change people from the inside-out. Some accepted Christ as their savior for the very first time.
I watched teens take ownership of their faith. Not only did they own it, but they shared it as part of an outreach experience this afternoon. (A tip for youth leaders: If you want to fire up your youth group, get them out sharing their faith. There is nothing like it to get people pumped up on the Gospel.) I heard amazing stories of the conversations these young people had with people throughout the Salem community. Christ was shared.
My prayer is that this movement that begun this weekend doesn’t stop here. My prayer is that God will take the energy that He has unleashed on these teens and use it to advance His kingdom here in the NW and throughout the world.
Of course, a HUGE thank you to the volunteers and production crew that helped make this event a possibility. God was working through all of you, and your willingness to serve was an enormous blessing. I am blessed with such an amazing group of friends that sacrificed so much of their personal time to serve these young adults. May God shower you with blessings for your selflessness.
We went BIG for God, and He is going BIG in the lives of these teens.
